Appointments

Routine appointments

Telephone the surgery on 01775 724088 and speak to one of our receptionists; or

  • Call into the Practice and speak to the receptionist at the front desk.
  • If no appointments are available at the time you will be asked to call back.

Enhanced Access

Enhanced Access are non-urgent pre-bookable appointments available between 6.30pm-8pm weekdays and on Saturdays.

Appointment may be a telephone call or a face-to-face appointment, either at your own GP surgery or an NHS service nearby, and can be with a range of clinical staff, such as doctors, advanced nurse practitioners or nurses, and health care assistants.

For urgent matters at evenings, weekends and bank holidays, patients should call NHS 111 or visit https://111.nhs.uk/.

Urgent – same day appointments

Only patients with an urgent problem will be seen on the same day. To see a doctor or nurse practitioner you must telephone the surgery on 01775 724088 and speak to one of our receptionists.

You will be asked for a brief description of your symptoms, or reason for your appointment so that you can be offered the most appropriate appointment.

If you walk into the practice your contact details will be taken at the front desk and you will be called back by a clinician as soon as possible.

We work as a team at the practice offering the first available appointments with an appropriate clinical professional, which may be a practice Nurse or Nurse Practitioner. Requests to see individual clinicians will be met where possible, but on occasions this may not be possible. We will always tell you if, for any reason, your appointment is unavoidably delayed.

Unfortunately, we have a limited number of appointments available each day, and you may be asked to contact an alternative clinical service if appropriate or to call back on another day once all available appointments have been used.

Nurse Practitioners and Practice Nurses

We have a highly experienced and trained Nursing team at Beechfield, many of whom are specialists in certain chronic conditions in their own right, as well as being qualified in minor illnesses. Our Nurse Practitioners are highly qualified and experienced independent practitioners.  Depending on the circumstances, you will be offered an appointment with a suitable member of the Nursing team when possible, which is normally a quicker means of being seen at an appropriate level within the practice.

Patient Self Check-in

The Practice has a self check-in machine located in the ground floor waiting room, to the right of the reception desk. This is the simplest and most speedy method of registering your arrival, and the information is relayed directly to the clinicians to let them know you have arrived.  Our reception team will be pleased to show you how to make use of this facility if you are unfamiliar with it.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. We monitor non-attendance of booked appointments and we reserve the right to remove patients from our surgery list if this becomes a frequent occurrence.

Virtual Appointments

Alongside our normal telephone and face-to-face consultations, we are also offering video consultations with the leading online GP provider, Livi.

Seeing a doctor via Livi means you can:

● Book an appointment at a time that suits your schedule

● Consult with an NHS GP from the comfort of your own home, or other convenient location

● Show the clinician any areas of concern in relation to your condition, while allowing them to pick up on any visual cues

● Help us save face-to-face appointments for patients that need them, e.g. those requiring physical examinations or blood tests
