Order Your Repeat Prescription Online

Repeat Prescriptions

Please allow UP TO 5 WORKING days before collecting your repeat prescription from the time that we receive it. Prescriptions sent to pharmacies may take longer to process and this should be discussed with the pharmacy directly. Please note requests received during weekends and bank holidays will not be actioned until the next working day.

Medication can be ordered online via the NHS App or Patient Access, or alternatively you can post your repeat prescription slip in to the letter box on the outside of the building (to the left of the main entrance). Please be advised we do not take repeat prescription requests over the telephone.

Your medication can be sent direct to any pharmacy in the country electronically - so please make sure you tell us where you would like it to go.

If you have a repeat prescription query, please contact the practice on 01775 724088 and select option 2 between 1000-1400 only.

Dispensing

If you live more than one mile (in a straight line) from a dispensing chemist you can request that your prescriptions be dispensed at the surgery.

The dispensary is open between 09:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday. If medicines are required urgently when the dispensary is closed patients should contact the Out of Hours Service on 111 for further advice and guidance.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see or speak to a doctor, nurse practitioner, practice nurse or clinical pharmacist at least once a year to review their regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions as this process is an essential element of your ongoing care by the Practice.

Try the NHS App

If you’re a patient at our practice, you can use the NHS App to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet.

It doesn’t replace existing services. You can still contact us in the usual ways.

But, once you have verified your identity in the app, you will have easy, 24/7 access to a growing range of health services and information. You can:

  • order repeat prescriptions
  • access NHS 111 online
  • find NHS services
  • view your health records
  • book appointments
  • and much more…

If you have any problems using the NHS App, you can select ‘help’ in the top right-hand corner of the app or visit nhs.uk/helpmeapp.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs) or for whom the costs associated with long term treatment may be excessive.

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy Pre-payment certificate (HRT PPC): £19.30

If you will have to pay for 4 or more prescription items in 3 months, or more than 13 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC. An annual PPC can be purchased over 12 months through the Direct Debit scheme.

  • Telephone advice and order line 0845 850 0030
  • General Public - Buy or Renew a PPC On-line

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website

From Wednesday 1st May 2024, the prescription charge per item will increase to £9.90.

Certain groups are entitled to free prescriptions due to age, health conditions or financial situations. Pre-payment cards can also be purchased to reduce the overall cost if you take regular medication and are not except from charges.

For further information on this and help with prescription charges, please visit the NHSBSA Website here

Please be aware these charges are set nationally and are beyond the control of the practice or pharmacy.

Weight loss medicine – Tirzepatide (Mounjaro)

Tirzepatide (also called Mounjaro®) is a weight loss medicine that makes you feel fuller for longer and therefore less hungry.

Access to the medication will be prioritised to ensure patients with the greatest clinical need can receive it. This approach was developed based on discussions with clinical experts and engagement with key organisations.

The following weight-related health conditions will be used to define those who are eligible first:

  • type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • high blood pressure
  • heart disease
  • obstructive sleep apnoea (when your breathing stops and starts while you sleep)
  • abnormal blood fats (dyslipidaemia)

Cohort 1 – will start in June 2025. At least 4 of the 5 health conditions listed above plus a BMI of at least 40 (BMI to be adjusted for ethnicity*).

Cohort 2 – in addition to the patients in Group 1, access to the drug will also be offered to patients meeting the following criteria in year 2. At least 4 of the 5 health conditions listed above plus a BMI of 35 to 39.9 (BMI to be adjusted for ethnicity*).

Cohort 3 – in addition to patients in Cohorts 1 and 2, access to the drug will also be offered to patients meeting the following criteria in year 3. At least 3 of the 5 health conditions and a BMI of at least 40 (BMI to be adjusted for ethnicity*).

*Due to an increased risk of heath conditions at lower BMI thresholds in the following populations, the BMI used to assess eligibility for tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) will be 2.5 kg/m2 lower for people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean ethnic backgrounds.

If tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) is recommended, you will need to eat a balanced, reduced calorie diet and take part in physical activity regularly whilst taking the medicine.

Eligible patients will be contacted directly as the cohorts are released.
